Buried Beneath
This powerful message confronts one of the church's most avoided topics: the silent battles of mental anguish, depression, and suicidal thoughts that many believers face behind their public smiles. Drawing from Psalm 34:18, we're reminded that God draws near to the brokenhearted and saves those whose spirits are crushed. The message challenges a dangerous misconception: that struggling mentally somehow indicates spiritual weakness. Scripture reveals otherwise. Elijah sat under a tree asking God to let him die. David wrote psalms soaked in despair. Job cursed the day of his birth. Even Paul spoke of being burdened beyond measure. Yet each discovered that God doesn't abandon us in dark places. The enemy glamorizes death, whispering lies that our absence would bring peace to others, that we're burdens better removed. But this is deception from the pit of hell. Our destiny isn't in leaving but in staying. The voice telling us to disappear isn't God's voice. God speaks hope, future, and healing over our lives. Suicide doesn't remove pain; it multiplies and transfers it to those left behind. Through the Lord's mercies, we are not consumed, for they are new every morning. Every sunrise brings another opportunity for grace, another breath means another chance for healing. We must bring our darkness into the light of Christ, refusing to let shame keep our struggles hidden where they only grow sicker.
