An Established Heart in an Unsettled World

In a world that feels increasingly unstable, where governments shift, economies fluctuate, and even our personal lives seem unsettled, we're invited to anchor ourselves in an unchanging truth: Jesus is coming back. This powerful message from James 5:7-8 isn't just about waiting passively—it's about establishing our hearts with patient expectancy while everything around us shakes. James deliberately increases the tension in his writing, moving from 'the Lord is coming' to 'the Lord is near' to 'the judge is standing at the door,' bringing Christ progressively closer to our consciousness. This isn't meant to manipulate our emotions but to transform our perspective. When we truly grasp that Jesus is at the door, the injustices we face, the promotions we're denied, the financial struggles we endure—all of these pale in comparison to what awaits us. The early church greeted each other with 'Maranatha'—the Lord comes—not as mere words but as a way of life. They lived with the constant awareness that Jesus could return at any moment. We're challenged to reclaim this blessed hope, to let it steady our hearts when everything else is shaking, and to remember that every trial we face has an 'until' built into it by God Himself.
